Fellow BJCP judges and appreciators of fine homebrew:
The Kentucky State Fair Homebrew competition is August 12 & 13. Our competition is 3 judging sessions starting Friday evening and continuing Saturday morning/afternoon. If you are only able to judge one or two sessions, we could use you and appreciate your time.
NEW THIS YEAR: we are able to offer to 10 BJCP Judges (Recognized & above who judge 2 sessions and travel over 100 miles one-way) a check for $100 from the Kentucky State Fair. It's limited to the first 10 who send me an email and fit the criteria.
The first session of judging will be held on Friday, August 12 at 7:00 p.m. The second session of judging will be held on Saturday, August 13 at 9:30 a.m., with the third session following at 12:30 p.m.; Best of Show selection will follow this session.
We judged over 450 entries last year, so your beer knowledge, sensory and judging skills will be greatly appreciated for any or all of our judging sessions.
Judge registration Friday will be from 6:00-6:45pm with judging starting at 7pm. Saturday judge registration will be from 8:30-9:15am, with a light breakfast. Lunch will be provided between sessions. The afternoon session will be followed by a Best of Show judging, afterwards we are planning an awards ceremony to announce the winners.

Need to Know Info for August 12 & 13 KY State Fair Beer Judging
1. Judge registration Friday is between 6:00-6:45pm. Judge registration Saturday is between 8:30-9:15am with a light breakfast provided and lunch between judging sessions.
2. Competition is scheduled to start Friday PROMPTLY at 7:00pm and Saturday at 9:30am, so we need everyone there early to allow us to make last minute additions and changes to judging assignments
3. The address is Kentucky Exposition Center, 937 Phillips Lane, Louisville, Kentucky: South Wing
4. When you enter the fairgrounds, stay to the far right side, and tell the attendant that you are there as a judge for the contest. They will not charge you for parking if you go to this booth.
5. After you get past the parking entrance, you will see a large building to the right. The entrances that are open to this building are up towards the northern end of this building near the middle. Once you get in, look for the signs that tell you where we will be judging. (Usually we are in rooms 101-102)
Thanks again,
