OK, what do you think about this idea. What if a guy were to use an external aquarium filter to pump cooled wort out of the boil pot, through some coarse filtering media and/or some leaf hops, and into the fermenter. An example of the type of filter I am thinking about is something like this : http://www.pennplax.com/Pages/Aqua.page ... ua19F.html
It would serve to filter out some trub, maybe add a bit of hop flavors (although the wort would be cool at this point) and act as a pump and probably an aerator.
I guess you could run the wort through the filter while it is still somewhat warm to get better hopback flavors, but I am betting this would ruin the filter motor in short-order.
I can't decide if the idea is great or completely useless.
What do you think ?

I just don't think you be able to sanitize it. I run boiling wort through my polysulphone pump about 10 minutes before flameout to sanitize it. There are just so many nooks and crannies in the pump mechanism for crud to hide I don't think you could get it clean enough to properly sanitize.
