Buggy Wheat!!!!

Post by BM1 » Sun Oct 17, 2010 12:10 pm

I found some little bugs in my sack of malted wheat :o .Never seen the like of them before. They weren't into anything else.I discovered them while running the grain mill, appearantly.they don't like the barley 'cause they were crawling out of the bucket where the two grains had been mixed.I didn't notice any odor from them and they weren't very lively.Odd thing is that there were two sacks of wheat in the same bin and only one was infested :?: .

Hope my beer turns out OK :) Anybody got an idea what they are?
You gonna stop whinin' 'bout that beer,or you gonna send it to me?

I didn't notice anything a couple of weeks ago, so I took a look tonight. There were 3 small bugs of some sort in my sealed bucket. I flooded the bucket with co2, and sealed the lid tight, and put the bucket in the freezer. That should keep them at bay.
Bugs are a part of every agricultural product. A few are no problem. An infestation......yuck. Did you have more than a few Michael?
You gonna buy one, or be one?
.....I'm gonna be one!

I looked all through my sack (Cargill) I got from Jack and its clean.
I guess I should feel left out...

I do remember reading somewhere, sometime, that you should put your sack of grain in a freezer for 3 days to kill off any bugs that might come along with it.

I never put my sack in the freezer, unless I'm using Dippel's Shriveled Willy recipe.
