I brewed an IPA this past Sunday before hearing about the water problem. I didn't notice any unusual odor and the wort from the hydrometer jar tasted normal, so it will be interesting to taste the final product. I use German Township water which they get from the City of Evansville. I'll bring some to this month's meeting.

Would spring water likely contain appropriate minerals?

It could be NY city tap water. You don't know what it really is. But typically it contains the minerals, natural to the water source where bottled. They normally just run through carbon filtration but there are no standards or regulations for selling water. That's why I've tried to just do well with E'ville water. At least I knew what I was getting before the aliens implanted blue-green algae in the water to control our minds.

Thanks, Chris.

I can't remember the brand of spring water I use but I wrote them and the sent me the water report.
Knowing how hard the water was at home, for most of my beers I've just gone 1/2 RO water and 1/2 spring water inthe mash and straight spring for the sparge.
For liter beers I work with RO and chemicals for the mash. Sparging with spring and filtered home water.

I have my water notes at home and can post them later if someone wants.

I notice a lot of brewing going on the last few days. What are you doing about water? Buying, filtering, nothing special?

I bought Nestle Pure Life water with minerals and mixed it half and half with Culligan RO/filtered water.
