I think storing your stout in it is a good idea Jack. It keeps the barrel in use, until possibly fall-winter when the club could make another group beer.

I bottled up a six pack tonight and man I think my keg is way bourbony than the keg we had at Brewers Cup. It was the last keg out of the barrel. I did some experiments and blended it with plain old ale. I got all the way to 1/4 oaked and 3/4 plain and enjoyed it better than the straight stuff.
