Water Chemestry

I just purchased BeerSmith and I'm checking out the water profiles.I got a copy of our local water quality report online (PDF) and it seems like it doesn't list very much.Maybe there is another report type that I need.Any one know how to get it? Do I really need it? Maybe I just don't know what I'm reading?

The last numbers I had on EVV was as follows:
Ca - 97
Mg - 44
HCO3-1 - 78 (As CaCO3 - 64)
Na - 24
Cl - 20
SO4 - 90
PH - 7.5

I live in Newburgh so I don't watch the EVV water that close. This should be close enough to get you to what you need if you want to try to match a water profile.

One of the things to look close at is the Cl to SO4 ratio. It is pretty high around here. If you are wanting to brew something bitter or hoppy it's great. If you want something more balanced or maybe a little malty the Cl numbers need to come up or the SO4 numbers down or both.

At the bottom of the page is a great spreadsheet that will do the 'ciphering for you on the changes to your water profile you make depending on what additions or subtractions to your water in regards to salt or distilled water additions.

Yeah,Iwas reading that the other day And I was frustrated because I couldn't figure out what's in our local water,so it was a little hard to follow.I know nothing about water chemistry at present but I'm determined to learn wether I need to or not.I'm stubborn that way.
