I picked about 10 oz. of hops from my brother's vine. Dried down to about 2.5 oz. He's not sure what kind they are, but there is at least twice this amount still to be picked. Probably we will use these for flavor and aroma only

Spring is here!!!
I moved the heavy mulch from the top of my Cascade, and found buried treasure.

Re: Homegrown hops
2 months to the day since my last pic in this topic. I've got cones. I guess I should have pruned a few of the early bines back to slow growth for a later harvest.

I found this from a hop growing forum
http://www.brewlaboratory.com/
Lab testing of homegrown hops for $24. Expensive if you only got a little bit, but waaaay cheaper than anything else.

I'm jealous. My one survivor from last year is about 6 foot tall. The other 5 first years are only about 2 foot tall.

Re: Homegrown hops
I did a 2nd picking today of my lone (small) Cascade. First picking only resulted in about a hand full. Close to 10 oz wet. So I figure close to 2 oz dry. It'll all go in a flavor addition for a wet hop ale.

Re: Homegrown hops
After picking the Cascades, I went and checked my Centennials growing in a 5 gallon bucket. I picked 2 oz from them. They're just getting started. Nice big cones. My hands were sticky from the yellow luplin after picking them. Great aroma.
