Re: Local Beer Documentary
I did, and it was very good. I knew Evansville had a rich history of brewing but didn't realize how big it actually was before prohibition.
It covered a number of Evansville corner breweries in the mid to late 1800s, Prohibition's role in wiping out a number of them, and how some stayed afloat during it. It progressed to cover the growth of the industry as a whole to regional and national brands, and the stuggles local breweries had in keeping up. Interesting the way bottling changed the entire industry very early on. Then it came full circle and covered the rise in micro/nanobrewries which kind of tied in with the social dynamic that the corner taverns of 140 years ago had.
I'll throw it back to 1880 tonight and bring my homebrew along in a pail
I actually sent Joe a message this morning to find out about additional screenings/availability of the film and I'll keep everyone posted.
