Got my whiskey barrel!
Got my 15 gal used whiskey barrel today! Still trying to decide what to put in it. Any of the Bourban guys familiar with FEW Spirits in Evanston, Il? Also, can't read the template very well. Anyone know what those dates mean?

Badass!!!
Few Rye is a decent rye whisky. I've only had it once in a blind taste setting and ranked it 4th out of six samples. Granted the other six included Willett Family Estate which I recall being my top pick.
Anyway, the bottom 4 items on the template are:
Barrel
Type
Batch No.
Date
The 14K19 should be a code which tells you where that particular barrel was stored in their rackhouse. For example, it likely means that your barrel aged on rack #14, level K, barrel #19.

Thanks Josh! I figured you could tell me. I'm gonna have to pick up a bottle soon. Do you know if FEW can be found locally?

It can! I know for sure that I've seen it at Winetree on Washington. Liquor Locker on Morgan is usually a safe bet as well.
Winetree tends to have a better price point on spirits, but not in all cases. LL definitely gets more of the 'allocated' releases (but FEW is not allocated). Varsity will gouge you to death on spirit prices and will generally only put the most common releases on their shelf.
For example, this is what I've observed for price points on Pikesville Rye (which I like way more than FEW)
Winetree ~$42
Liquor Locker ~$45
Varsity ~$64

John - when I was at Willett recently, they were talking about their barrel numbering system. If Few does something similar, the codes on the barrel could also indicate the day of the week, date, and month it was filled.
