On tap at Old Chicago: HOPSLAM!
Yes, that's right, on tap. They said they had 2 kegs and it's selling actually pretty fast. 10% ABV so bring a driver ... ask me know I know.

The chicory stout is very good. I picked some up in Bowling Green last week. I really like that Indian Brown Ale. It just melds the malt and hops so nicely. Westside Liquor has Great Divide's Hibernation Ale that is very tasty. Better with some temperature.

Even my BMC buddy thought it was pretty good. Of course I'm slowly training him, he actually had an Anchor Steam tonight and loved it.

Cheers to Liquor Locker on Weinbach for catering to the home brewer/craft drinker. I went there last night, per the suggestion of several OVHA'ers, and their selection rocks. I left with 3 Floyds Gumball Head, 3 Floyds Black Sun, Two Brothers Hello-centric and the Maredsous Belgian. One note of tragedy to report, I broke a Maredsous taking it out of the car. I could not slurp it up from the driveway very well. Alex has a lot of selection and listens if you want something. He said he would be more than happy to put up our flyers. Hmmm it's Saturday, and too nasty to do anything outside, I wonder if I should go back and see if I missed anything.

West-side(Best-side?) Liquor March 1, 2008
Sprecher Beers of the British Isles 16 oz. variety pack "Super Special" @ $9.99
2 each of the following:
Russian Imperial Stout (7.9% ABV, 32 IBU)
Irish Style Stout (5.7% ABV, 26 IBU)
Pipers Scotch Ale (8.3% ABV, 21 IBU)
1 each of the following:
Pub Ale (4.8% ABV, 17 IBU)
IPA (7.7% ABV, 88 IBU)
*The Imperial Stout is worth the price alone. Big, Hoppy, Malty. The best Imperial I've ever tasted.
*The Irish Stout is very robust but has a good balance.
*Although Scotch Ale is my one of my least favorite styles, this is probably the best example that I have tasted. Smokey peat and very malty.
*The Pub Ale was my least favorite, but a good example of a flavorful Brit session beer. My advice, drink this one first, especially before the Imperial Stout.
*The IPA was listed on the box as a Double IPA, but was actually just a regular IPA.........a very, very good English IPA.
Note: They also had two other Sprecher variety packs for the same price. If they are even close to same quality, they are a very good value, especially at 16 oz. Enjoy!!

Stopped by Liquor Locker on Weinbach today and picked up a bottle of Allagash Odyssey, a dark wheat beer ,oak aged 10 months, ABV 10.4%. Also left with Rogue chocolate stout and Rogue Kelly Irish Lager. Haven't tried any of these, but might need some assistance with the 750 ml bottle of Odyssey. Any volunteers?!!!

John, I went by there looking for the Allegash tonight. I could not find it. I did pick up the Rogue Irish, and the Mad Dog Scottish. I wonder how those two will settle in the stomach if I drink them together? Let me know how the Allegash is. I am curious about that one.

Jim, when I was at the Liquor Locker talking to Alex, he mentioned that he had a couple of bottles of Odyssey. They were not out in the main cooler, but if you ask, he has them "stashed". I haven't opened the bottle, but probably will find a time soon to do that!!
