Indiana Homebrew Club Day-Oct 13 @ Indy

Post by Chris Norrick » Wed Sep 05, 2012 1:07 pm

From Ron Smith from the Foam Blowers of Indiana (FBI). Post here if you are planning on going. We usually take a van full.
BREW-B-Q REMINDER !!! - ONLY 6 WEEKS AWAY !!!

Please plan to attend this year’s 6th Annual “Indiana Homebrew Club Day” on Sat. Oct 13th, 2:00 - 7:00 (set up at 1:00) !!!

We will be back at Great Fermentations parking lot again this year (Thanks Anita and the GF staff). Let’s make this the most well-attended Brew-B-Q yet! Please spread the word to your club members and have them “Like” the Brew-B-Q Facebook page to make communications easier. This FB page is also used to communicate various homebrewing related news to all the clubs in Indiana. “Like” it here… http://www.facebook.com/pages/Brew-B-Q- ... 0393449698

So, if you are unfamiliar with this event or need a reminder, here’s the scoop…

--- The event is about celebrating homebrew club life, and our hobby of brewing beer, as well as to get to know other clubs and club members from around the state in a fun, non-competitive environment.
--- Clubs come from all around the state attend and set up an area (often under a canopy) to serve their beer. Some just bring bottles and coolers and others go all out and bring lots of kegs and elaborate bars, jockey boxes, etc. Do whatever you want, just come and enjoy the event.
--- FBI club member, Frank Petrarca, along with some helpers, work for days preparing a big spread of smoked meats that is absolutely awesome!
--- As the host club, other FBI members bring various side dishes, and the club provides buns, sauces, etc.
--- The event is free to attend, but donations are very welcomed to help us pay for the meats, supplies, the port-o-let, etc. (we just want to break even… or at least not lose too much J).
--- I usually acquire a lot of door prizes from area breweries, liquor stores, etc., so lots of door prizes are given away (please feel free to bring anything you would like to donate to the prize list).
--- Have as many club members as possible attend the event (they will be glad they did).
--- Wear your club shirt, if you have one, so we know what club you are in / where you are from.
--- Bring a pop-up canopy or two in case it rains (it is a rain or shine event) and some chairs, your favorite drinking vessel, etc.
--- The event runs from 2:00 to 7:00, but feel free to arrive around 1:00 to set up if needed.
--- Be sure to stop in to Great Fermentations to see what is new and pick up anything you need, and also check out Bier Brewery, which is just a few doors down and is making some great small batch beer.
--- Lastly, please drink in moderation and don’t drink and drive !!!

As everyone who has attended previous Brew-B-Q’s knows, this is a really fun day and one not to miss. Please let your club know about it and plan on attending. See some images from last year’s event here… http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 698&type=3 .

If possible, please let us know approximately how many people from your club will be attending. Just send me a quick email or post it to the FB page.

Below are the clubs I am aware of and that I am trying to contact. Let me know if I am missing any. Also, please provide any missing information or correct any mistakes.

I have a family event that evening so I can't go.
This is a fun event every year, Anyone that wants to meet and sample beers from some of the other clubs in Indiana (as well as getting lot of great food and bling) should try to make it.

I would like to go, but things are still up in the air.
I can drive the wife's van if things work out.

I am pushing a beer forward (Gumballhead-like American wheat made with Nelson Sauvin hops); hope it is ready......

All but a few of us missed a great time this year. As usual, Ron Smith and the gang put on a great event at Indy.
Lots of great beers, lots of great beer people, lots of great beer prizes and some excellent grub. It is always nice to socialize with other brew club members and find out what is going on around the state. Hopefully we can get some more participation next year; I know that there were several people planning on going and had commitments at the last minute. They are moving the date up a week next year so there won’t be a conflict with the GABF
