I had forgotten the power of Knox unflavored gelatin in clearing up a hazy beer. It's friggin' magic, and super easy.
1. Boil 2 oz water, I did it in a flask with foil on top to keep sterile
2. Allow to cool some
3. Pour in one pack of Knox gelatin to dissolve
4. Pour into keg, can even be already carbonated
5. Swirl keg
6. Wait 24 hours
7. Pout out a pint of gunk
8. Clear Beer!

Pout out a pint of gunk?
Will this work for us bottle carbonating guys? Maybe add to the bottling bucket, wait 24 hours, then fill bottles. What about the gunk, then?

If your beer doesn't come out exactly right, call a brew-over!

Re: Gelatin Magic
Just add the gelatin to the fermenter, and wait for the settling before racking to the bottling bucket. Then bottle as normal.Don Armstrong wrote:Pout out a pint of gunk?

Re: Gelatin Magic
Just be aware that gelatin does a really good job of dropping out most of the yeast. It may take longer to carbonate or not carbonate to the level you are expecting.

Re: Gelatin Magic
I use the stuff in most of my beers with the exception of my dark or wheat beers.
It does disqualify the beers as being Vegan though.........
Gelatin is “made by prolonged boiling of skin, cartilage and bones from animals.”
You can sometimes find kosher gelatin, which is made from fish instead of cow and pig parts.
Yum.

Re: Gelatin Magic
Can I use it in my cider?
Does temperature matter? Colder the better?

Re: Gelatin Magic
Should work fine. I don't think temp has much effect.
