Racked Framboise again with far better impact. Will still need one more racking prior to bottling. Then must wait eight months - oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!

Not exactly a cool-weather beer, but it looked interesting and helps me keep my Kölsch yeast alive. Definitely a session beer, at 1.043.

This is the first time I've tried first wort hopping. Just throw the hops in at the beginning of the sparge and voila! And with no additional hops in this recipe at all, this is a very simple beer to brew. Now that I'm using Fermcap S, I just got it boiling and walked off to do other projects.

Re: What's in your fermenter??
Brewing again, FINALLY!
Did two BIAB batches. I was going to do them at the same time, one in the boil keggle and one in the mash keggle, but then realized that the mash tun has a temp probe in it. A sure recipe for a ripped bag I figured so I just did them back to back in the boil kettle. Pulled out my old turkey burner stand just to make sure it still worked. I even used my old coil chiller. Old school, yo.
Everything seemed to go just fine except I forgot to adjust these for 60 minute boils so I had a little to much water and they were a little low on gravity.
1. American Amber Ale (house beer), 11.75 lbs of grain.
2. Cherrywood Smoked Robust Porter, 15.25 lbs of grain. This one was tough to pull the bag out of the keggle. Lucky for me, Jason Stoermer stopped by just in time to help fish it out. I need a new bag design with a little taper for sure. I backed off the smoked malt on this one from the last time I brewed it.

Belgian Pale with Wyeast 3522 Belgian Ardennes.
This beer is basically a yeast starter for a Belgian tripel I have planned.
Another BIAB; simple and quick but I pretty much maxed out my 10 gallon kettle with this one.

Re: What's in your fermenter??
Amarillo Wheat Bomb.
Not my preferred recipe for a Gumballhead clone, but I'm trying to get rid of some old ingredients. I don't think I've had four fermenters going at once!
Fermentables, 73% efficiency
US White Wheat Malt 6lb 0oz
UK Maris Otter 5lb 0oz
Belgian Cara 20 Malt 1lb 0oz
BIAB mash for 90 minutes at 154. Mashout at 168.
Hops
Variety Alpha Amount IBU Form When
US Amarillo 8.2 % 0.30 oz 11.0 Loose Pellet Hops 60 Min From End
US Amarillo 8.2 % 0.75 oz 7.2 Loose Pellet Hops 15 Min From End
US Amarillo 8.2 % 1.25 oz 8.4 Loose Pellet Hops 5 Min From End
US Amarillo 8.2 % 1.00 oz 6.1 Loose Pellet Hops 1 Min From End
US Amarillo 8.2 % 1.25 oz 0.0 Loose Pellet Hops Dry-Hopped
Yeast
Danstar-Nottingham
Ferment at 164.

Re: What's in your fermenter??
I'm on a bad luck streak. My last two batches went down the drain...one due to infection (my Big Turkey hopeful) and a robust porter (stuck fermentation). Being desperate, I brewed an APA Sunday evening and used some of Don's Two Hearted yeast with a 2000ml starter. I guess bad luck does run in threes because 36 hours later I've got nothing happening. Unfortunately I had no contingency plan. I'm thinking about running by the co-op at lunch and picking up a packet of S-05. Will the delay in adding healthy yeast cause a problem? Should I add it to the bad brew graveyard?
