Hello

Post by sirgiovanni » Mon Jun 11, 2007 8:57 am

Hi,
I have been doing all grain brewing for about 15 years. However, since moving back to Evansville, I have trailed off but am looking to do an all grain within the next couple weeks. Is there anywhere in town I can buy supplies from? If not, could you guys direct me to some sites with decent shipping prices? I placed an order with someone and was a bit shocked by the cost with shipping compared to my past costs. Thanks for the help,
Jim

Just found your link to the co-op. Now if I can just figure out how to make their hours of op. :)

Do they sell grain?

The co-op does sell grain. If you brew often enough to use a whole bag of grain, I will be ordering in the next couple of weeks. Domestic grain comes in 50lb bags. European grain comes in 25K/55lbs bags. I order from Brewers' Supply. I can get Briess(USA), Crisp & Simpsons(England), Castle(Belgium), Durst & Weyermann(Germany) malt from them.

Welcome back to brewing! Hope you can make it to our meetings.

If you can't get what you need from the Co-Op or Jack (Head brewer at Turoni's, see above post) I'd try Midwest Supply http://www.midwestsupplies.com or Northern Brewer http://www.northernbrewer.com Both are relatively close to us and ship fast. It's definitely worth it to buy your base grain from Jack, the price and convenience can't be beat!

Hope to see you at the June meeting. No real agenda at the summer meetings, just social. Info is the top item on the Chat page.

Sounds cool. I'll try and get to some of them. I have 10,000 hobbies and commute to Henderson for work. I don't get to sit down much. I am grateful to find some locals to share info with and really do look forward to meeting you all as much as possible. Thanks for the warm welcome!
