Wesselman Wondering Owl: Sat. Oct 15 1:30-6 p.m.

Post by Chris Norrick » Sun Sep 25, 2011 7:36 pm

The is a second annual event for the club. It is very laid back, outdoor, afternoon event with a modest turnout for a good cause. I believe a jockey box will cover us unless we have a huge outpouring of all that Big Brew Club Beer that was made.

Sign up below if you can help set up and serve or have beer to donate. They have a printed program and would like to put the beer list in there.

Full Info:
This event will afford patrons a chance to stroll along the network of trails that surround our newly renovated Nature Center, all the while enjoying food and beverages from local restaurants. Sample a variety of beers from Working Distributors, Ohio Valley Home Brewers and Turoni’s Brewery. Wine from Blue Heron Vineyard in nearby Cannelton, Schlafly Beer from St. Louis and wine from Winzerwald Winery will also be offered. Food will be provided by Hacienda, Bar Louie,Texas Roadhouse, Jimmy John’s, Boston’s Gourmet Pizza,The Black Buggy, Penn Station East Coast Subs, Eclipse Spanish Tapas Bar, Casino Aztar’s Riverside Cookery, Savant Gourmet and Mesker Park Zoo’s Team Service USA. In addition, a silent auction will be taking place inside the Wesselman Woods Nature Center and will include an assortment of items graciously donated by area businesses and individuals such as Casino Aztar, Nikki Pritchett, Aveda and Top Spot Outdoors.

The evening will include a casual atmosphere featuring live music from Andy Norvell. Reservations can be made by calling Wesselman Nature Society at (812) 479-0771 ext. 107. Tickets are $35.00 in advance, $40.00 at the door. All proceeds will help Wesselman Nature Society accomplish its mission of serving as a catalyst for environmental stewardship, regional sustainability and improved quality of life through conservation, preservation, research and education.

Mindy and I can set-up and serve. :beer11
I will bring 4 beers.
1. Honey Blonde
2. Bluemoon Clone
3. Hopzilla
4. Oktoberfest
A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it's better to be thoroughly sure.

Elizabeth and I will help with setup and tear down. Plus provide a couple of cornies.

Winston Churchill Old English Ale and maybe the Coco-Nut Coffee Porter if it survives St. Benedict Cathedral Octoberfest

The Zoo is a close second, but this is the BEST event we do, in my opinion. The weather is the difference.

I'll be there, and I'll have at least one corney with me.

Ice math
jockey box - 12#
2(tub with cornies - 2(22# bags))
= 100#

I may be able to make it if all the planes are on time and we don't get bumped.

I'll bring some robust porter and amber lager if I make it, will probably be late.

We'll talk this Saturday?

Meet at Turonis for loadup around 1 p.m. Setup at Wesselman is at 1:30 p.m. Event runs until 6 p.m.

Big canopy, two jockey boxes, tubs, pitchers should be all we need. We can rotate taps if needed. No lights as there is no power.

I'm sending out a group email shortly as a reminder.
