Cider apples

Post by Dutch » Sun Oct 15, 2017 1:30 pm

I have an offer sort of hard to refuse. I have a friend in New Jersey with an orchard full of apples at a very distressed price - mostly Fuji’s. I have two other possible reasons to go up and visit. If anyone interested let me know very quickly. I will have to figure out what the cost would be but these are not drops and I would only need to partially cover gas to make the trip worthwhile.

I think it sounds fun! How many do we need to make the investment worthwhile?

Looks like 9-10$/ Bushel and about two bushels for a five-gallon batch. You can get apples to eat or make raw cider or hard cider - I will need to know rather quickly # bushels. These are fugis still on the trees at a friends orchard in NJ.
I will be most likely be doing a road trip.

I'm definitely in for 2 bushels. Maybe 4 if there is enough to go around.

I will take two as well. I would be down for helping with the pressing operation if the date works out. I am available most weekends.

Shaping for a trip to Four Seasons country (NJ) - now up to thirty five bushels committed and still some slack in the volume available and spade in my enclosed trailer - looks like up to fifty available. Planning on leaving early this Thursday and hopefully back this Sunday. Would probably be grinding and pressing at my house on Sat Oct 28.
