I am interested in several but didn't know if it is possible to plant different kinds side by side or do they have to be seperated

These hops won't cross pollinate with each other, so there's no fear of having some kind of crazy hop off shoot, but you would want to assure yourself that the cones you are picking are indeed cascade, and not sterling. Planting the rhizomes of the same variety 3 feet apart is about as close as you'd like to go. Plant different varieties at least 5 ft apart.
Cascades in these parts are known to grow 30ft in a season.

I should have enough rhizomes from my 3 yr old Cascade crown to set you up Jimmy. I'd trade a bottle of beer for them.
I don't know how many starts I'll have if any one else would like some.
I also have 2 Sterlings that have been growing in a 5 gallon bucket for a couple of years that need a good home to spread out in. Anyone interested?

John,
I can find a home for the 2 sterling plants. How soon do you want to move them?

Cool, that might work better. I have to get off my ass and build a pergola to grow them on and it might help my timing more this route.

These rhizomes are better than what you'd get from Hop Union. Not that there is anything wrong with their starts, as everything got from them did grow the first year. 70% didn't grow the 2nd year. But I attribute that to their original planting location.
