Re: Oxygen Regulators and bottles
Not really sure if 0.5 micron is that important - sounds to me like the 2 micron should do just fine? I'm thinking that the SS tubing may be almost free from my source?

Re: Oxygen Regulators and bottles
I'm probably opening myself to a virtual Irish Stoning, but I've only got one question? Does anyone really notice the difference in oxygenating the wort vs. not? I've brewed and brewed and used brew stones and Oxygen and really haven't seen the big difference. The way I come off of the brew pot, (by vacuum) my wort has so much foam, I can't imagine putting anymore O2 into it.
Maybe the question should be posted in Discussions?

I've had to start using a blowoff tube since I started oxygenating my wort. I am getting a much more vigorous primary fermentation.

My stone is on the end of standard clear racking cane and works great. Stainless would be even better!

You will introduce more O2 with a bottle that a pump or by shaking.smaywork wrote:I'm probably opening myself to a virtual Irish Stoning, but I've only got one question? I started out by shaking (@8ppm MAX), then went to pump (you are using air that is 20.8% oxygen and pumping it through a stone the max I could get is @8ppm), then a couple of years ago to O2 bottles w/ stone and my yeast love it ( I will get form 1 to 26ppm depending on the flow and time). I run at 1 lt. per minute for @ 60 seconds.
Your yeast need O2 to grow and the adverage 1.065 beer (with the right amount of yeast) needs +10ppm
If you are brewing low gravity beers 1.040 you can get by with a pump or shaking but you can not pump or shake enough O2 for healthy yeast if you are brewing a med to big beer.
Keep notes, and work with your yeast, O2 and nitrates and see if your beers don't improve.

Re: Oxygen Regulators and bottles
Will have what is called half-hard 1/8" aluminum tubing soon. Approx 24" pieces. I'll bring them to the March meeting. If anyone needs equipmenet, flex tubing, O2 refil, tank wrenches etc just let me know and I will get them to the March meeting as well.
Will also be ordering more stones as I only have one left.

I'm interested in a regulator if you still have some available?

Dutch, please remind me the rate/minute for a 5 gallon rate with this. I may be overdoing it. Thanks.
