Homemade stir plates

Post by SkyBrew » Thu Dec 06, 2012 9:00 pm

My buddy came by today to show me his homemade stir plate that he made from a computer fan and a stereo volume control thing. He said he wants to sell them for $30 each. I payed around $75 for my Hanna Instruments Magnetic Stirrer so that sounds like a pretty good deal to me. You will still have to buy a teflon stir bar and Earlenmeyer flask of course. Does anybody have any interest in this? I could probably bring one to the next meeting. I took a short video of it in action here:

Some people say the glass is half empty.
Some say it's half full.
I just want to know who's drinking my damn beer!

Are these still available? I was planning on a stir plate being by next project, but for this price I might as well just buy one.
