Beer Smith ROCKS :beer2

Using Beer Smith 1st time today.I've been playing around with it for 2 weeks now getting acimated.Decided to do a brew with it.Best part is the mash calculator.I allways had trouble hitting my target temps, keeping water handy at different temps so I could adjust quickly.Today,I'm just pouring it in slowly, with therm.emersed, and it is spot on (well, within 1 degree or so  ).Mash isn't complete yet but I am thoroughly impressed,so far. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Hah! Predicted pre boil gravity 1.049.
Actual pre boil grvity 1.049. :D
Miscalculated the mash tun dead space as 0.25 gal. and it was nearly double, but tippping the tun a little on run off compensated nicely.

Now all I gotta do is buy the software. My 21 day free trial ends soon. .But it's only 21.00.Easy money.

I'm a BeerSmith junkie. Once you dial it in (adjust dead space, mash tun specific heat, and all the other calcs, etc.) it's a real help. Some things don't make sense to me, just because my routine is different. For example, I don't actually "secondary," I just throw the primary into the fridge to cold crash until bottling time. So, I use the "secondary" section of the recipe form to estimate the time in the fridge, which makes it come out right on the calendar. There's some other things I wish were different and added, but mostly minor. I love the inventory form, too, and that I can automatically deduct today's brew from current inventory.

This could be a meeting topic. I'd be glad to offer that sometime.
