Bill approving Sunday microbrew sales heads to governor

Sounds good to me..the only problem I see is what is attached to the bill..

The bill also repeals a law that prohibits alcohol sales during voting hours on election days.

Do you really think that Mitch will let that fly???

Republicans will always find a place for big governement when it comes to setting rules on what we can and can't do.

The important thing is that Jimmy Carter made it ok to always have our way better homebrew on hand whenever we want, for a lot cheaper, and with no alcohol tax!

Notice of Law Changes - Governor Daniels signed Senate Bill 75 into law on March, 12, 2010. There was language in this bill that effected several statutes in the Alcoholic Beverage Code, Title 7.1.

From the article:
"The chancellor at Louisiana State University recently unveiled a proposal to build a microbrewery on campus. The facility would serve as a laboratory for food science students and a training center for aspiring brewmasters."

Workers strike over ban on drinking at work

Reuters
Thu Apr 8, 1:02 pm ET

COPENHAGEN (Reuters) – A few hundred warehouse workers and drivers at Danish brewer Carlsberg halted work for a second day on Thursday to protest a company decision to limit beer drinking at work to lunch breaks.

The strike in Denmark followed the company's April 1 decision to introduce new rules for employees on beer drinking at work, said Jens Bekke, spokesman at the world no.4 brewer.

"There has been free beer, water and soft drinks everywhere," he said. "Yesterday, beers were removed from all refrigerators. The only place you can get a beer in future is in the canteen, at lunch."

Bekke said drivers retained an old right to three beers per day outside lunch hours, and warehouse workers claimed the same right.

"Because of that, the warehouse staff went on strike yesterday, with other staff striking in sympathy," he said.

Bekke said as many as 800 had walked out on Wednesday, with 250 still on strike on Thursday, and the Confederation of Danish Industry and trade union 3F had agreed to look into the dispute.

He said there would be no shipments from Copenhagen on Thursday, and delays in the rest of the country, but said he expected the financial effect of the strike to be minor.

He added that Carlsberg's trucks have alcohol locks so drivers would not be able to drink too much and drive.

From the Minneapolis - St. Paul Star Tribune.
Sales of craft beer is up 9.6% while sales of domestic beer is down
6.1%. The article speculates that one reason for this is an actual
evolution of the American beer drinker

Good article, Don. Thanks for the post. I think we are seeing an evolution in the American beer drinker. I remember thinking that I didn't like beer very much when I was in my late teens. It was an acquired taste that I tolerated. Then I had the chance to tour the Coors brewery in the 80's shortly after Killian's Irish Red first came out. I was blown away, a beer with actual taste! That's what started me on the path to beer appreciation. I still keep that souvenir beer mug in my freezer.

And there are still a few exceptions.
I had one of my fellow workers come to my brew fest and he just knew he wouldn't like any of my beers.
He only drinks bud lite..
He said he tried 4 of my beers and didn't like any of them..

I feel sorry for his taste buds....
