Anybody doing anything new or different for temp measurement when cooling their wort? I have busted two of these now, and am getting worried about it happening in the wort, one of these days. I am just using the basic glass, floaty from Co-Op.

I've always just used my hand, pot cool to the touch, then let it protein break for an hour. It's always worked well for me.

I generally use a brewometer on my keggel, but a remote read temp probe (Kitchen insert type) and a binding clip to hold it in place work great.

I use an instant read type that is digital, that I think I got at Wally world for a couple of bucks. Works great for me. The battery lasts a long time, I can read it through the beer goggles without making a mistake like...was that 70 or 90? It even holds up well when I dropped the thing in a time or 2.
It would be easiest if I had one hard mounted to the keggle, but that would require more work.

I have wondered about an instant read. My neighbor uses one of those when he grills. I'll try an inexpensive one, and be done with it.
