The homebrew contest was a resounding success! We had 54 entries in the three categories. Steve Dills, Chuck Renner and myself gave the judges from the German Club a break and judged the Dark Beer category. We also judged the three first place winners to pick a 'Best of Show.' All three were very, very good beers. We gave certificates for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category and a trophy for the Best of Show winner. A big thanks goes out to Joe and John for cooking up a batch of Nut Brown Ale as the judging went on.

The chili cookoff was taking place at the same time in the Beer Garden and I bet there were over 100 people mingling between the two events. After each category was judged, we put the leftover beers on a picnic table for onlookers to try. People could not wait to get their hands on the homebrew!

Congrats to all the winners and I can't wait to do this again next year!

The next Suds Club meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 12th at 7pm at the Schnitz.

See you all then.

Justin

Justin, what a great turnout for your inaugural homebrew contest. Thanks for inviting us to take part. I’m glad that the judges liked my entry; the state fair judges weren’t so kind. It’s nice to be recognized by fellow homebrewers.
