BBQ cookoff July 26

Post by Jim Dippel » Sun Jul 20, 2008 8:08 pm

Saturday morning the BBQers will be there by 6:AM. I do not plan on getting there that early. I will be there by 8-9 but if anyone wants to get there earlier you are welcome. At last count there were 22 BBQers, and I'm told that a lot of them wait until the last second. Should be plenty of food, so see you there with your brewerys and such. Jim

I was reading through the Rules and Regulations http://www.wssc.us/Media/Flyers/2008/Sm ... tryApp.pdf for their BBQ Cook off and it lists that Contestants and spectators may not bring glass bottles into park becasue they present a safety and health hazzard.
How does this affect the brewing presentation? While I wan't going to bring out my brew making gear, I thought about bringing some of my Joe's ancient mead for tastings, and demonstrate how to make it.
You gonna buy one, or be one?
.....I'm gonna be one!

Very good questions John; I'm not sure about the glass thing. I was going to bring some beer to sample, all in glass bottles myself. I'll try to contact Jim to get an answer before Saturday.

Who is planning on attending? Who will be brewing?

Jim said that bottles are fine as long as they are restricted to our brewing area and kept out of the park area.

20 gallons of beer was brewed. 1 gallon of mead was made. 11 beers were on tap plus some great meads and bottled beer. The beer bar is everything I thought it would be. It is spectacular! John gave a great demo on how to make Joe's Ancient Orange mead and even had handouts! We missed the members that couldn't make it out. Plan on it for next year.
