SWIRCA Fest Beers & Radio Tasting

Post by jefrey3 » Thu Jul 17, 2008 3:09 pm

Judy & Tiffany would like a list of beer we will be serving at the festival. They know we probably don't know everything, but lets give them what info we can. They need it early next week. Post it here & I will get it to them.

Also South Central is coming to Turoni's for the radio tasting. They would like some of the homebrewers to participate also. A date hasn't been set yet. Is anybody interested?

I'll try to be there, but I may not be able due to work. If I don't make it, I have 3 beers in kegs in the cooler that they can sample; an APA, a Belgian Pale, and a Watermelon Wheat.

Do you think we have enough time to pull together a display table? I'm thinking just have most of the equipment we think should go in a beginners kit and maybe a sign that explains what the parts are. And a stack of equipment manufacture catalogs and some BYO and Zymurgy mags.

Here's my beginners list, feel free to add or subtract from it.

"How To Brew" by John Palmer
"Brewing Classic Styles" by Zainasheff and Palmer
Large stock pot and/or turkey fryer w/pot
6.5 Gallon Carboy with cap and airlock
Bottling bucket w/spigot
bottle filler
bottle brush
Thermometer
Hydrometer w/jar
Bottle capper w/caps
Star San sanitizer
PBW cleaner
Autosiphon w/ tubing
Large spoon
Maybe a can of extract
Some hops
Grain bag
Copper immersion chiller?

I've got everything except for a can of extract and I'm not sure where the spigot is to my old bottling bucket.

I like the idea and to make it even better, could someone bring a carboy with an active fermentation at its peak (I know, that's sometimes a guessing game). Might be a way to get rid of old nasty malt or yeast just for a demo.

This reminds me, should I still bring my Tent in case we're in need of one out there?

YES!

At this point in the week there is a significant chance of rain on Saturday. I'm not sure what sort of tentage SWIRCA has lined up. I know it was mentioned that there will be some but I'm not sure how big they will be.

At last count, we will have at least 22 beers on tap. We can handle 12 on the cart and another 7 on Jack's Jockey box, leaving at least 3 for separate dispensing. We will need enough gas and connections for the beers not on the cart. Jack, can you bring your gas and manifold along with the jockey box? I will bring my gas and 4 port manifold along with a couple QD taps and cobras(ball lock). We will also need some ice tubs for the beers not in the cart.

:beer2 :beer2 :beer2 :beer2 :beer2Sounds like someone's having a party!!! :beer2 :beer2 :beer2 :beer2 :beer2
