I was wondering when those were coming out.

Yea, the UK hops might be interesting to find for the bitter.

Watch that honey malt....

I'll be able to supply all the grain we need for both recipes except the 120 crystal. I have the pale, aromatic & honey malts.

What is aromatic malt like? I have never been able to nail down in my mind just what aromatic contributes.

I know a bit of color, but what else ?

Just as the name implies it is used to enhance the malt aroma. Most if not all aromatic malt come from belgian malt houses. The aromatic I have in stock is from Dingemans.

American Amber, Big Turkey Award Winning Recipe 5 gallons

2 1/2# Light DME
2# Amber DME
1# Wheat DME
1 oz Challenger 1st Wort Hop
1 oz Challenger 60 min
1 oz Columbus 10 min
1 oz Cascade 2 min
Servomyces
Whirlfloc
US 5 yeast
Prime w/ 3/4 cup corn sugar



Dry Irish Stout 5 gal

3.3# Can Dark LME
3/4# Crystal Malt 60L
1/3# Black Patent Malt
1/2# Roasted Barley
8 tsp. Gypsum
1/2# Maltodextrin
1 1/2 oz Northern Brewer 60 min
1/2 oz Fuggles 10 min
Irish Ale Yeast
Whirlfloc
Servomyces
Prime w/ 3/4 cup corn sugar

Steep specialty grains 155F for 30 min

I checked my hops, and I only have 2 OZ of UK EKG hop plugs left, not the 4 like I thought (must have used them somewhere), they're old, but so are all my hops. I'll be happy to put them in the donation pile for use.

Since I was out of town for Big Brew, just wondered how the 4 recipes turned out. Still in fermenter, kegged, sampled??? :beer4

My bitter is in the dry hopping stage at the moment - smelled nice :)
