Dry Hopping

Post by BM1 » Wed Mar 12, 2008 5:59 pm

Hey,I just tried something else new;never dry hopped before, but as the say, necessity IS the Mother of Invention. My hop flavor was a little short of the mark,so I added 1/4 oz. left over from the boil.I didn't want it loose in the works or getting buried by yeast cells so I put it in a muslin bag.Five days later it's still floating and hop flavor and aroma are right on.But..2ndary has a couple weeks to go,should I try to pull the bag out or what? :D
You gonna stop whinin' 'bout that beer,or you gonna send it to me?

Might as well just leave it in until you bottle it. :D

Not only would I leave it in, but a true hophead, such as myself, would pull the bag out when finished and chew on it like a big ol' hunk of beef jerky.....hey that sounds like a good idea....hop jerky! Centennial Slim Jim.

Some folks will drop a bag of hops directly into the keg and leave it there until the keg runs dry, so I don't think a couple of weeks will hurt. I've dry-hopped for up to 3 weeks myself.
