Sam Adams Hop Sharing Program

This doesn't help homebrewers, but it could sure help me. Jim Koch has started a hop sharing program. Sam Adams is offering to share 10,000 pounds of East Kent Goldings and 10,000 pounds of Tettnang at their price. Limit is 6 88# boxes per brewery. If demand is greater than 10,000 pounds there will be a lottery to determine distribution.

Do you think you'll get some from them? I bet the lottery will kick in for this.

I wonder how much will make it to an unscrupulous seller on ebay, or other homebrewer supplier sites.

I'm sure the lottery will be used. I think it is only open to breweries. A brewers permit number is required. Minimum 88 pound order would be more than most homebrew shops would need. If I get the Goldings the Moose will change, but remain available. Wish me luck.

I received an email from Jim Koch today. Over 100,000 pounds of hops have been ordered so far & orders are still arriving. There will be a drawing to determine allocation.

Since Sunday is Easter, the drawing has been postponed until Monday. Winners will be posted to the Sam Adams website on Tuesday.

The drawing is today. Nothing has been posted on the SA website yet. A list of winners is supposed to be posted by tomorrow. If I get these & the Cascade I found I will be in pretty good shape into 2008.

Warbird & Mad Anthony in Ft Wayne and Bloomington Brewery won some hops. Turoni's didn't.

I'm not attacking that Warbird guy ... he has a plane that can strafe us.

Now, the rest of them, I am sure we can take.

Easy fellas. Remember the golden rule: Make beer, not war!
Also, I would be a little worried about that "Mad Anthony" guy.
I'm thinking Bloomington is a real liberal town, maybe we could channel their hops over to Jack's place. I think all you need for effective channeling is 6+ beers for each person involved. I can practice this weekend, if necessary.

Actually a scary thought just crossed my mind. If all of us quit drinking, there may not be a hop shortage. uuhhh, never mind.
