Just picked up the last six of Sam Adams Weizenbock Long Shot winner from Westside Liquor. They had them in their singles cooler. It's a really good beer; big like a Bock but with the funk of Weizen yeast. I think it is the best Long Shot offering yet. I will bring a couple to the next meeting since the beer of the month is Bocks.

If anyone gets over to Liquor Locker, I highly recommend you try the Monk's Ale Flemish Sour. It is in the singles cooler. Way cool sour ale!

I may have smuggled back four large bottles of 2006 Alaskan Smoked Porter straight from Juneau in my luggage. I also picked up a sixer of Moose Drool from Big Sky Brewing. All survived the baggage handlers. :beer9

Gerst is having a Oktoberfest tour. After you get a fishbowl of all 10 Oktoberfest beers they have on tap you get some sort of glass.

Do you get (er, have) to drink all 10 fish bowls at once?
I can call in sick today, if necessary.

I heard two days after they started this that they ran out of one of the beers so I don't think they went through with it.

The Frontier Liquors in Newburgh has a bunch of good beers in since the last time I was there ... DFH 90 min., good selection of Belgian singles, Avery IPA. As I was checking out I noticed they had two magnums (or maybe even 3L bottles, I can't decide, but they where huge) of Chimay. Never saw that before, very impressive.

Just had a Dark Horse Cream Stout from Michigan's Dark Horse Brewery on tap at Gerst.
Nice and balanced; roasty with not too much lactose sweetness.

Make sure and insist on a non-frosted glass!
