Big Brew Day- Saturday, May 7th

Post by Jam095 » Thu Apr 21, 2016 12:35 pm

Come out and "join the club" to celebrate National Homebrew Day. We will be setting up to brew at Superior Ag (Co-op) on St. Joseph Ave. on Saturday, May 7th at 8 am. The OVHA will provide 2 sets of each 2016 AHA designated recipes (Altbier and Ginger Ale) to the first claimers. One Alt has been claimed so far. If you don't choose to brew one of the provided recipes, you are encouraged to brew whatever you like. (Additional ingredients can be purchased in the store the day of).
You will need all of your usual brewing equipment, with the exception of (water hose, filter, grain mill, extension cords). If you have any questions, feel free to call or text me 812-217-2552.
We look forward to seeing everyone there!

I'm intrigued by the Ginger Ale - sign me up for that one.

I claimed one of the Altbiers, but if someone else wants to do it let me know. I was hoping to brew at coop in Mt. Vernon but that didn't work out so I may not be able to make it there.

There is still one of each recipe up for grabs! First to claim get them.

If you are brewing one of these, let me know if you'd like to make a yeast starter in advance. Our ingredients should be in at Superior Ag soon.

I can do one of the ginger beers. I shall call it Capt. Norrrick's revenge :D

Update: Adam Quiroz will be taking my previously reserved Ginger Beer. I will reserve the other Altbier. I have a prospective member coming out to help brew it.

For the Brewers who claimed one of the AHA recipes, I ordered WLP 029 for both recipes as it was an option for each of them. It is stashed away at Superior Ag, and has been paid for. Your welcome to pick yours up anytime if you would like to make a starter in advance.

Thanks! Nate plans to get the stuff for the Posey County crew in Fri. I'll do a starter Fri night. BTW, I met with Jon Fifer and he's all excited. Their sign lists "Brewing Demo May 7" and asked that we wear our Orange OVHA shirts. We have water supply figured out and he confirmed its OK to bring beer to offer as samples. I'll aim for flame on at 8am and will do traditional all-grain process.

A good time was had by all who attended the Evansville Big Brew today! Superior Ag treated us like royalty. A big thanks to them for all they did.
