Half batch chilling (indoor)
I'm ordering a short keg to accomadate half batches on the stove top (BIAB) when I don't have a full 5 or 6 hrs to stay outside. I am pondering the most convenient way to chill a 2.5 gal batch. I have a 5 gal. stainless or 10 gal. aluminum pot to choose from, which neither have valve ports yet. So what method do you guys use for the indoor half batches?

I'll agree with Chris.
Plate chiller is the best way to cool down that wort. I would put it near the top of the list of gadgets to upgrade/have for home brewing. Top of the list is roller malt mill & spigot on boil kettle.
The caveat of the plate chiller is cleaning them. Takes a bit of time.
Duda diesel has great prices on plate chillers.

You gonna buy one, or be one?

Re: Half batch chilling (indoor)
I have all of that setup for my keggle to use for full batches, but I was mostly curious if anyone preferred the ice bath method for half or smaller batches (when brewing indoors). I guess either way I'll want a valve on my kettle to rack to carboy. And if Im gonna run it out of a valve, it might as well pass through my chiller.

For my big garage setup I use a plate chiller (Duda Diesel), but for my basement induction system I use a SS immersion chiller so I can limit the amount of clean up required. Also, being small batches the chill down is fairly quick.
There is a good article on Sep 2014 BYO magazine about no chill brewing.
