My pump is growing more aggrevating with every brew day. What are the basic tips I'm not following besides giving it a slow motion gangster beatdown?

I fought priming issues until I reversed the head 180º (suggested on here) so the IN was on the bottom.

Do you prime and then rotate or it primes ok like that? I definately did the opposite thinking it would help it prime better.Thanks man

It primes and runs just fine with IN at the bottom. I had it at the top for years thinking that was the way to to it. It just made sense to me that IN should be at the top. I was very wrong.

I lowered my pump @8" below keg out and it now works fine now with the in at the top and out at the bottom.
Lowering it put more head pressure on the flow and I can purge the air out better.
It also helps to have enough liquid in the kettle to force the liquid through the pickup tube and force the air out.

I have my set up like Chris suggested with the inlet on the bottom with the ball valve on the outlet side. To prime the first time I fire it up I open all all the valves (valve on what is feeding the pump and valve on the pump outlet). I stick the outlet line from the pump in a bucket that is lower then the pump until I get some flow. Turn off the pump outlet valve and hook the line up to what ever it is you are wanting to pump to. Open the outlet slowly until the flow stars and then open valve to get the flow you need. If you are recirculating the mash and pumping off the bottom of the tun you want to be really careful how fast you open the pump valve. Too fast or too much will almost always result in t stuck mash.

I set it up like that as well and tried your bucket method to prime. Everything looked good with the initial water. Hopefully have a better day tomorrow. Thanks to you all.
