My wort chiller coil has developed a leak at the intake on the coil side of the fitting. The leak is under the fitting, not a hole in the coil. The fitting can be turned by hand.

Is caulk a proper fix or is welding/braising a more appropriate (less contaminating) option?

If the fitting is compression it just needs to be tightened, if it's soldered then it can easily be cleaned, fluxed and re-soldered. I wouldn't use any calking / epoxy to patch it, that's only a temporary fix.
Bring it to the meeting we'll look at it.

Don, I am looking for the rubber gasket that seals the top of Corney QDs.
I have the Foxx number (07C07-150); not sure of the price.
It would be nice if I could get a McMaster-Carr number.
Thanks.

Thanks Chris that's where I was going to look for the answer
as of 10/25/11

The part Dwayne wants is a Becker disconnect rebuild part. It is the cap washer that seals the top of the Becker disconnect. Fox has them for $0.15 each. I will need to take one of mine apart and measure it to get a McMaster-Carr clone.
A new Becker ball lock disconnect cost @$3.45

Ohhhhh. I see now. That was the part that was leaking on two of the club QD's at Wondering Owl. Now it all makes sense.

How often should ball valves and gaskets be replaced on your HLT and Boil Pot?
