Sud's Club Strassenfest Contest: August 6

Post by Chris Norrick » Sun Jul 24, 2011 3:16 pm

Details from Justin:
The Dubois County Suds Club is holding its 4th annual homebrew contest and brewing demonstration during the Strassenfest on Saturday, August 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The contest will be held at Snaps (1115 Main St., Jasper) this year.

The public is invited to enter the homebrew contest, which will be judged live by a panel of beer connoisseurs, or come and watch as club members demonstrate techniques for brewing beer.

Brewers can enter their beers in five categories this year - light, amber, dark, wheat and specialty beer (more info on the entry forms)

Prizes will be given for first, second and third place in each of the categories. A special "Best of Show" award will be given to the judge's favorite beer of the day.

Two 12 oz. bottles or a 22 oz. bottle or larger is required to enter. The bottles should be unmarked if possible.

The cost to enter is $2 per entry.

Entry forms can be downloaded from the Strassenfest website at http://www.jasperstrassenfest.org under the Saturday events tab. Forms can also be picked up at R.O. Homebrew & Wine Supply at 3274 Bittersweet Dr. in Jasper.

Entries should be dropped off between 11:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. on the day of the contest. Please bring exact change. Checks can be written to the Dubois Co. Suds Club.

Arrangements to submit entries early can be made by calling 630-8433 or by sending an email to jrumbach@hotmail.com.

Chris failed to mention he is the reigning Best of Show winner.
A legitimate contest. Those SUDS judges are good.
You gonna buy one, or be one?
.....I'm gonna be one!

I have some beers to take up, if anyone else is planning to enter lets see what we can work out.
I can't go up the morning of the 6th (I'm skydiving with my son).

I am willing to help with the gas if anyone else wants to drive up or..
I can go up a day or two early and meet up with Justin.

Post here if you are planning to enter and we'll work something out.

I'm interested. I also have a commitment that day, so I can't drive up.

If you have beers to enter I'm planning on driving up Tuesday evening.
Check their web site for entering information.
You can get them to me tonight at the meeting ( please keep the beer in your car till I get them).
I'll be out of town Friday and back Monday afternoon and can meet up with you then.
