Hef Yeast

Post by Dutch » Mon Nov 08, 2010 3:05 pm

Well, I had another failure of liquid yeast. I took some wort from Jeff Smith, made it home and boiled it for about five minutes. I took a clean, two-liter plastic bottle and rinsed it out with boiling water. I cooled the boiled wort and put it in the bottle. I let the WLP300 Hefe come to about 70 degrees and pitched it into the room-temperature wort. Left for about 24 hours and absolutely NOTHING HAPPENED! I shook and stirred and still nothing - the yeast just settled to the bottom and the wort cleared. I fell back on an old reliable S 04 dry yeast. In about four hours it is chugging away! MMMMMMMMMMMMMM?
Bye the way there is a new FERMENTIS WB 06 dry Hefe Yeast out.
