To Cider or Not to Cider?

Post by Dutch » Sun Aug 22, 2010 2:32 pm

I spoke to a good source regarding apples from Englebrecht. It is my understanding that the trees HAVE NOT been sprayed nor have they been maintained in any way during this difficult period. I, therefore would not expect that we might be gettting any apples from this source.
I am open for suggestions if there is still significant interest in Cidering. I will not be able to make this coming meeting 8/25. Might be good to discuss this topic at this next meeting.
The press and grinder should be ready and available as I plan on making white wine this coming weekend.

Someone once told me there's an orchard on Mill Rd, west of St Joe. Does anyone know?

I obtained 5 gallons of unpasteurized, preservative-free cider from "Farview Orchard" last year. I don't remember what kind of apples they had, but they were the kind for eatin'.
