With the increase in ticket sales for the SWIRCA event, I guess we can't bank on any beer being left over for Brew-Ha-Ha. :beer2 I've got the grains crushed and I'm ready to brew a Simcoe American Brown tomorrow. I'll see if I can squeeze in another "quicky" beer next Sunday after SWIRCA; maybe a coffee stout since that seemed to get a good response last year. A couple of days before I keg the stout, I'll need about 4 oz. of fresh-roasted whole coffee beans(the fresher the better). Are there any home coffee roasters out there that can help me with the beans?

Simcoe American Brown
8.50 lb Pale Malt (2 Row)
1.50 lb Carared
0.50 lb Aromatic Malt
0.50 lb Chocolate Malt
0.25 lb Victory Malt
0.25 oz Simcoe [14.40%] (60 min)
0.50 oz Simcoe [14.40%] (30 min)
0.50 oz Simcoe [14.40%] (15 min)
0.75 oz Simcoe [14.40%] (5 min)
1 Pkgs SafAle English Ale (DCL Yeast #S-04)

Beer Profile
Estimated Original Gravity: 1.060
Estimated Final Gravity: 1.015 SG
Estimated Color: 21.7 SRM
Bitterness: 45.2 IBU
Estimated Alcohol by Volume: 5.8 %

Old No.7 Stout
Ingredients
7.00 lb Pale Malt, Maris Otter (3.0 SRM)
1.00 lb Barley, Flaked (1.7 SRM)
1.00 lb Chocolate Wheat Malt (400.0 SRM)
0.25 lb Black (Patent) Malt (500.0 SRM)
0.25 lb Roasted Barley (300.0 SRM)
2.00 oz Fuggles [4.00%] (60 min)
1.00 oz Fuggles [4.50%] (15 min)
12.0 oz Jack Daniels (Secondary)
1 Tahitian Vanilla bean (4 days)
1 Bourbon Vanilla bean (4 days)
Pitched onto cake of SafAle English Ale (DCL Yeast #S-04)

Beer Profile
Estimated Original Gravity:1.053SG
Estimated Final Gravity: 1.017 SG
Estimated Color: 36.9 SRM SRM
Bitterness: 47.8 IBU
Estimated Alcohol by Volume: 4.6 %

Any amount of beer & wine you can spare.

I went to a BrewHaHa meeting yesterday to show some examples of tasting glasses. Not sure if they have enought time to get them for this year, but they do like the idea. World Class is supplying the beer again.

I told them that OVHA will be there. I don't think we will run out of beer at the SWIRCA fest.

They are looking for door prizes. Do we have any of the old Tshirts left or will we have new ones by then.

They have realized they should invite breweries next year. SWIRCA has been a brewery based festival & BrewHaHa has been a distributor based festival. SWIRCA added distributors this year. BrewHaHa will probably add breweries next year. Can Evansville support 2 beer festivals?

All the more reason to support moving the SWIRCA fest to the spring IMHO.

For anyone bringing beer to serve, please give me your beer info in this format so I can make up some little info sheets for patrons asking questions.

Example:

Beer Name: 700nm Ale

Beer Style: American Amber Ale (BJCP 10B)

ABV: 6%

Brewer: Chris Norrick

Ingregients: 75% UK Pale Ale with some Caramel 40L, Munich, Victory, Caramel 120, and a pinch of Chocolate Malt. Magnum, Cascade, and Centennial hops.

Style Notes: Known simply as Red Ales in some regions, these beers were popularized in the hop-loving Northern California and the Pacific Northwest areas before spreading nationwide. Similar to Bell's Amber.

I'm going to be watching Notre Dame kick Michigan's butt up and down the field on the 16th. Have a blast! :D
For everyone I haven't met, I used to live in Evansville and was a member of OVHA. After moving home to Jasper, and missing having good friends to brew with, I decided to try to start my own club. I am happy to say that I have been the president of the Dubois County Suds Club since 2006 (although I still miss my OVHA buddies)!

Chris,

I will be using the same two beers that I had at the SWIRCA if you still have the cards or info. The Red Eye Brown and the Wet Pup IPA.

I'll bring the old cards and any new ones that come up. What time are you guys gonna show up? I need to bring the cards and my beer sort of early to get to my grandfather's party at 6. Do volunteers get food tickets? I'm gonna just try to visit a little at the party, skip supper and leave early to get to the Brew-Ha-Ha asap.

Jack, can you get us some of your sample glasses again? I think that made a nice display at SWIRCA.
