A buddy of mine has some cross cut white oak 3/4" and we make a 5 gallon and a 15 gallon paddle for me yesterday.
(I will post pictures later)
I remember reading once there is some kind of oil that you can use on mash palles but I can't find it now.
I think the grain will really come out, once these are treated, but I don't want to put the wrong stuff on them.
Anyone use oil on theres or know what oil to use?

I believe it is the same stuff used on butchblock table tops and cutting boards. It is called a white mineral oil. Rub it on with a rags, let it bsorb and then wipe off after about an hour or so.
I use it often in the barn and I just picked up some in Texas from IKEA. IF you want to borrow some just holler.

I remember looking around for recommendations on oiling when I made mine. If I recall correctly, oiling was not recommending on the possibility of contamination of the beer and affecting head retention.

So, let me see......oiling your wood affects head retention. Kinda sounds counterintuitive don't you think.

So after a lot of painful research I have decided to go natural with my wood.
