or...an empty corney "is a terrible thing to waste"

Ok, all who are interested, we will attempt to transfer the 67 gallons of beer into a 53 gallon barrel on Tuesday at 6:00 pm. We will need a couple clean corneys to catch the "extra" if any. We shouldn't need but a few people so if you can't make it, no biggie.

Dutch, do you want me to meet you at your house to help load the barrel? I'll bring a little 3.5 gallon corny to help catch any extra :beer2

Thanks but no problem. It is real easy to roll the barrel off of the cart into my truck and then load the dolly. It only gets a lot more difficult when full!

Update on our liquid child.... After a clogged quick disconnect and about 30 psi we finally got the beer moving toward the barrel (we turned down the pressure considerably after it started flowing). We ended up using damn near 65 of the 67 gallons. It is now resting comfortably until at least the end of May.

Thanks to Jack, Dutch, Don and Chris for the strongarmin' and all the help!

*** A Small Wager ***

While at the event at the New Albanian brewery the topic of this competition came up. In the spirit of extended friendly competition, we agreed to a wager with the FOSSILS club about the scores of our beers. Whichever club scores highest in this will receive 5gal. of beer and a club t-shirt from the other club.

I wonder what beer they will be giving us? :D

I wound up with 4 cornies of the barrel aged old ale from Kenny's house.
I'm pretty sure our club entry for the brewers cup needs to be bottled.
I bottled a cornie keg by pitching 3 grams of a white wine yeast with 3 oz cane sugar to give a carbonization level of 2.0 volumes. Appropriate for old ale style.

I've also forced carbed another cornie for bottling in the event the natural carbed bottles are not ready in time for competition.

I'd like to take another keg to zoo brew to free up my kegs for my beer. I'm really jockying for keg space. You'd think 20 cornies would be enough. I'd like to get 5 more.
You gonna buy one, or be one?

I wound up with 3 Corneys of our Barrel-aged beer. I will carb them as space in my fridge opens up. I will try to bring one to the next meeting and hold the others for events and additional aging.

So I now have this empty barrel in my basement. How should this be handled at this point....should I just attempt to rinse out all of the old goodies with a hose or use barokleen or ....?
