This is some frozen old stock I have. I think it may even be two years old because I don't remember picking (off the ground) last year.

I've been thinking about how wheat was an upper class beer back in the middle ages.

We'll see. :D

Made an Irish Red yesterday, somewhat short on volume so it will be a 5 gal batch for the Brew-ha-ha, and today I made a Golden Ale -- still short on volume, may make that one up to six, I'll decide when I go into the secondary.

This time the English Ale Yeast culture took right off, who knows what was wrong last time (other than the wild yeast infection, even worse than last time).

Pitched the Golden Ale with Munton's Ale yeast -- forgot to order some SafAle when I got my fresh supply of hops this week.

Both batches had a nice hot break, unlike the previous two, where I ended up with tons of trub in the fermenter. I don't think that helped with the flavor, either.

All fresh hops, too, just in case my frozen ones had gone to the bad place.

Sweet Stout :beer8

As usual, just followed the recipe in BCS.

10lbs. Pale Malt, Maris Otter
1 lb. Black Patent Malt
12 oz. Crystal Malt - 80L
8 oz. Pale Chocolate Malt

1.5 oz Kent Goldings @ 60 mins

1 lb. Lactose - wasn't sure when to add this so I threw it in @ 20 mins before flame out.

Set the Chilly Willy to 64° hoping the beer will not go more than 68°.

Won't be ready by the next meeting but should be good to go for the Wesselman's event.
If your beer doesn't come out exactly right, call a brew-over!

Lemongrass Saison is in my fermenter (actually, keg now) and it's pretty tasty.

I have a whole bunch of lemongrass in my herb garden right now and there's no way I can cook that much Thai. If anyone would like to make a lemongrass beer please let me know and I can bring it to the next meeting.

Chris...I don't have space for a lemongrass beer just yet, but I'd love to have a start of the plant if you could be so kind and share such.
As a side note. I've read that fresh lemongrass can be frozen for up to 6 months without any flavor changes.
You gonna buy one, or be one?
.....I'm gonna be one!

You're trading beer for a baby delivered to you. Bad deal, don't do it.

[anyway, congratulations early!]
