My sparge is usually good by at the absolute most, 45 minutes. I'd really like to drain out of the bottom valve of my mash, down to the floor, then pump back up to a holding tank I heat at 168 which will then drain back down and spray the mash pot. That means that I can not pump too fast or I would have to turn it on and off a bunch which means unplugging that unit. I would much rather have a variable control on the pump and I won't be pumping higher than about 4 to 5 feet.

This is similar to what I do for the mashout, step mashes (rarely), or if I'm low on the mash temp. Instead of a reservoir, I pump through my chiller coil that is now being used as a heat exchanger. As in, it is sitting in my HLT full of hot water. To regulate flow, I have a ball valve on the outlet side of the pump. This does not damage these mag drive pumps.

Thanks Chris. I held off on buying the pump, it's about the only thing I held off on for now.

That will be incorporated next and will be a wonderful back saver.

Sorry fellas.
I totally forgot about checking on the pumps.
My boss has a way of interfering with my fun.
I'll try and remember to check before the meeting.

Well the weather has turned wrong on us this week and we are without an indoor fighting site this year so the only day we have to fight is Wednesday if we are going to hope to stay dry and still give me time to get the new brew system ready on Friday night. Soooooooo.....I may not make it to the meeting. :(

I'm filling my first 5 gallon keg Friday night too and was hoping to check out the presentation tomorrow. I'll do my best to get there if weather screws us or we finish early. Otherwise, I apolagize for missing such a great opportunity. If I can make it, I have have some honey hefeweizen to bring. :)
