Grain: 6 lb. American 2-row
1 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
Mash:
65% efficiency
153degF 90min.with 1/2 the water.Sparged w/othe 1/2.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.055 3 gallons
Irish Moss 1-2tsps.
Hops: 0.25 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 60 min.)
0.33 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 40 min.)
0.25 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Nottingham Dry Yeast 3/4 pkg.No rehyd.
Log: 1-21-09:Dry hopped w/7grams Cascade Leaf.
I drank about half of this one before I realized that it was a little green.1/2 of it was in the fridge udergoing cold conditioning and the other in the closet.
Well...it's ripe now and I drank 2 btls. WOW,just wish it was a little hopppier.I made a 2nd batch last Saturday with more hops,so I'm anxious to see how it turns out.

Wanted a lighter color but full flavor.REV1 is 2nd brewing of this
from Pale Ale 1-1-09.Purpose:Improve hop utilization and hop
character + improved head retention by eliminating dry hop additions.

Alcohol: 5.1% v/v (4.0% w/w)
Water: 1/2tsp.Gypsum in boil.

1 lb. Dextrine malt (Cara-Pils)
Mash: 71% efficiency
BIAB 153*f w/Dunk Out 168*f
An adaptation of Brew In A Bag where 2 gal. water is heated
in a separate pot and used as a rinse like a Mash Out on Batch
Sparging.
Boil: 60 minutes SG 1.055 3 gallons
Irish Moss 1-2tsps.
Hops: 0.25 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 60 min.)
0.60 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 40 min.)
0.30 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 15 min.)
Yeast: Nottingham Dry Yeast / 8 grams direct @ 70*f pitched dry in 5 gallon carboy with blow off tube.10:45pm.
Moved to basement 69*f.
Note: Recent fermentations with Nottingham have been vigorous but not exuberant.Kruesen is typicaly 2 - 3 inches high with rapidly roiling wort beneath.Generaly subsiding in 2 - 2 1/2 days.
Log:
NO dry Hops this time.
Carbonation: 3.1 volumes Corn Sugar: 3.34 oz. for 2.75 gallons @ 70°F
Not decided on co2 yet but,we'll see.I'm wondering if a little less would be better.Wadaya think?
I wonder if CO2 may be masking some beneficial characters.(?)
