I made a session beer of a pale ale this weekend myself.

8.5 lbs Marris Otter
1 lbs Crystal 10

.6 oz Amarillo at 60
1 oz Amarillo at 10
1.4 oz Amarillo at flameout

Mashed at 152
1.040 with Wy1056

And I got some work on the keggerator done. Got one tap in and done before I broke the bit on my hole saw. :(

Did a quick extract American wheat today since it was so nice out.

6.6 lbs of liquid malt extract

.35 oz sorachi Ace for 45 min
.35 oz. sorachi ace for 10 min

I really wanted to get a handle on these hops and figured this would be a good basic beer to get a taste of them.

1.050 OG
16 IBU

I figure if I don't care for it I'll dry hop with some cascade or amarillo, If I dig it I'll either drink it or add some spices or maybe some citrus fruit zest.

Good thing I put a blowoff tube on the fermenter of hefeweizen. Lots of crud came through the hose. At least there were no airlock missles this time!

On Sunday, I kegged up my IPA that I made back in February, and dry hoppped in March. My OG was 1.064, and I couldn't believe the FG 1.004. I thought I got something wild in there to ferment it down so low. The sample from the hydrometer tasted ok, so I proceeded with the kegging, just thinking the readin must not be right. Well I took me a couple of glasses worth last night for a cold, carbonated sample. It tastes great. Has lots of body, and not the alcohol flavor that I thought it would have based on the FG I took on Sunday. I had to retest the FG. It tested this time about 1.006, carbonated and all. Then I'm thinking, I don't really taste the alcohol, so possibly my OG reading was wrong...The way I feel this morning tells me the alcohol was really there. I have to believe this is my best beer yet.
Does anybody else have an experience that they can't explain? I guess sometimes you just get lucky.
You gonna buy one, or be one?
.....I'm gonna be one!
