Is anyone else concerned about the storm tomorrow? The wind could make things problematic. Should we look at alternate locations or am I just being a sissy?

My brewing it dependent on the weather... Electric pump and rain don't go together well.

I have most of my 2 car garage cleared out. Giving us some sheltered brewing. My house is very well sheltered from the wind with hill on 3 sides and a hundred acre woods behind the house. The 5 foot roof over hangs adds additional outside brewing space (I know this from experience).
Suck it up boys. Are you brewers, or winers?

Boy I miss my pickup truck............
I have all my gear loaded in my 4Runner and even made room for a 10 x10 tent and table, and extra gas bottle, second kettle and a second carboy.. If my smoked porter is as expected, I will be doing a parti-gyle.
Got to go grind so grains now...

I've put a sign up at St Joe & Mt Auburn, and one at the end of my driveway. Just drive on down the driveway to the back of the house to unload your gear.

Partigyle sounds good. Maybe I'll join you and make a barleywine, or RIS.

Well...I had a great time brewing today.I enjoy brewing any time but today was special. My beer didn't go as expected but I'm definitely not disapointed with what I took home.I got 4 & 1/2 gallons (or so) @ 1.060.My target was 5 gallons (or so) @ 1.065.I did some checking after I got home and found that in order to get 1.065 with that mash method I should have had 2 more Lbs. of wheat malt and another Lb. of crystal. Then I did some more checking and discovered that if I had been trying to do a party gyle... it would have worked out just fine.Should have studied that method before planning my brew, but hind sight is allways 20/20,huh?

So,please don't gossip on me too long.I'm learning.

........................................................................................
You gonna stop whinin' 'bout that beer,or you gonna send it to me?

John, Thanks for hosting and putting up with us all, and Dutch, excellent food...
Thanks Jack for the grains, and everyone for sharing their beers and friendship.

My digital controller is fried, but my beer, and parti-gale, came out better than expected.

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE ADVICE AND NEW BREWING TECHNIQUE THAT I GOT FROM THE DAY OF BREW.

When i looked on facebook to send a message to someone I did not realize that the first Sat. in May was nation wide.

Great time at BIG BREW!! Thanks to all who attended and participated in the festivities. We made and sampled a lot of fine beer and I hope everyone had fun.
The Big Brew Scottish ale is bubbling away nicely in my basement at 60F and the Rocktoberfest is in the boil kettle now and should be done before long. :beer2 :beer8

Cheers to all who attended Big Brew Day!
Why just do this once a year? Let's try to do club brews more often.

Sorry I wasn't able to make it to the group Big Brew (had chores to help with at home) but a friend and I were able to brew that evening. I went with the American Craft Wheat while he brewed up a Fat Tire clone.

We were even able to show another friend the brewing process who stopped by later in the evening when we were getting ready to grill out, so hopefully we'll have another homebrewer in the area soon! :beer9
