I'd like to participate in the cider party. I can help pick and press for a ~5 gal batch.

I was trying to find some hours on their website but wasn't successful.

Let's say we meet at 10am. Last year, there was a little place off the side of the road where you could park for apple picking, so we'll say there would be good. Dutch, I remember you had OK'ed this with someone, whose name do we need to mention just in case ?

Everyone good with that ?

That pull off is closed this season. I drove by it a few nights ago. I think there was a gate, but I'm not for sure.

I've never been farther than the orchard. I assume there's a main building up there somewhere?

I was there Saturday. They've moved the u-pick to a different location this year. It's up the drive, to the left and behind the store. There's a sign on a post, it's pretty easy to see.

I'd like to join the apple picking party, but I'm not available until the cub scout event is finished about noon.
Dutch, do you think the club price could be extended to me if I don't make it there by the time everyone else is finished picking?
I would like to pick enough for about a 5 gallon batch also.
You gonna buy one, or be one?
.....I'm gonna be one!

I just found out today that we are having an emergency production Saturday at work (which at least means that maybe the automotive industry is turning around). The issue is that I promised my barn for storage of the apples. If you need, you can just put them in front of the right side barn door and I will be home at 3:30 so they should be safe until then. I also would like 5 gallons worth myself, and more than likeley wont be able to make it to all of the pressing, but possibly the morning part, so I am planning on giving my carboy to Chris Norrick to fill it up. Let me know if there are any issues with this.

Sounds good Kenny. Could you post your address (or PM me.)

Right now there's about a 30% chance of rain on Saturday... hopefully we'll be fine. If you're planning on attending please bring any tubs/buckets.

I spoke to Connie Englebrecht about the "GROUP" pricing like last year. We didn't actually come to an actual price per bushel but I'm pretty sure John could pick anytime and we could confirm this and set it up while we are actually there that AM. I'm pretty sure that we paid about $50 total last year but that did not include about 5-6 bushels I had gotten from a friend's Mom. I believe that we did about 100 gallons in total.
Don't forget that we will need containers for each and every apple we pick in order for them to be stored at Kenny's!
If my thoughts are correct we will need to pick about 30 bushels to make 100 gallons of cider.
From website to date:
10 gal Dutch,
5 gal ??Steve Sluder
3 gal Chris Alvey
5 gal Kenny Lucas
5 gal Chris Norrick
5 gal Aaron Lamb
5 gal John Mills
Don Heisler
_________
38 gallon cider to date

I plan on being at the picking this Saturday, but have something to do the following Saturday.

5 Gals. is all that I need.

The apple harvest was a success and a great time was had by all attendees on this cool fall morning in the Engelbrecht orchard. Thanks to Aaron, Chris N. , Dwayne, Mills & Sons, Dutch & Jack for all the hard work (I won't lie, I am a bit sore this morning.)

All in all, we were able to collect about 15 -18 (let's count so we can estimate next year) storage type type vessels full of different varieties of apples.

Pressing will take place next Saturday (10/24) at Dutch's house.
