I found this good idea in the yahoo group brewing equipment to clean the beer lines of the kegerator, without using any of the valuable carbon dioxide. This should be easy enough to construct, and the fountain pumps are getting cheaper with continued popularity of the fish ponds.
...I used the corney plug adaptor that is mounted
thru the side of a bucket. I used a 3/8" to 1/4" MFL tubing
adaptor, the barbed end runs to a small fountain pump.
I fill the bucket with BLC and hot water, connect the ball-lock
disconnect to it, stick the bucket under the tap and plug in the
pump power. It pumps BLC thru the line and out the tap. I let it
run for about 10 minutes, then flush with clean hot water.

The guy also uses this setup, and pump to circulate ice water through his imersion chiller.

Norrick-You can drink all of my beer you want, if you decorate my kegerator. Cool, boobs and exploding motorcycles.

Thread necromancy time.
Hey Jim, are you still using this kegerator? Mine recently died and I'm working on building a new one, but my wife saw one of these and likes the look of it. How do you like yours?sirgiovanni wrote:

Holy hell! How did you find that pic?
Any way, yeah but I added a second tap to it. Way better now.

Is there anyway to teenager-proof a kegerator? I've thought about buying one, but my wife is concerned that it might be too easy a temptation for my 15 year old and his friends.

Depending on the type of faucets you have you can buy locks:

Re: Lucky Dog-Kegerator Question
When I was a teenager, my buddies dad had a kegerator with a lock on it. We found a way to get it to trickle out and filled up some drink coolers and headed down to the river bank with a couple girls. What a great night that was except that when we went back for more, we killed it. My buddy was grounded forever on that one. Worked out ok for me though.

Re: Lucky Dog-Kegerator Question
My philosophy thus far is just like how I was raised. Education, and fear of getting my ass beat. The education part is similar to that of a loaded gun. Don't mess with it. I try to include my kids in the brewing process as much as they want (or I try to get them to do...crush grain, stir mash, oxygenate wort, taste wort, taste finished beer).
The fear part, though (past experience) will only work for a little while. But it will last long enough until they can figure out somewhere else to get it. So a lock is really only protecting your beer from their consumption. So you have to ask yourself... Is this what I want the lock for? Why deprive yourself of the Red Foreman saying of putting your foot in their ass.

Re: Lucky Dog-Kegerator Question
Of course I have no children, but I would have to think about it this way. If you teach your child (tennage) about brewing and what good beer is, etc. Then when their friends want to get a couple of cases of Busch Lite and drink them selves into oblivion they just think "Wait, I thought we were getting some beer for tonight. This stuff just tastes like crappy water."

I just hope that if I have kids someday they recognize the evils of InBev and question their mothers in open conversation.

I appreciate everyone's advice. I'm thinking locks and threatening a boot in the ass might be the way to go.
