adding spigot to brew kettle

New here. just wondering if anyone here new how to add a spigot to a brew kettle. not really looking to spend over a hundred on a pot if i dont have to. appreciate it.

I recommend a step-bit, something that goes from 1/16" to 1" and a small 1/32" bit to drill a pilot hole.

A bi-metal hole saw works well too. It has the benefit of having the pilot drill bit in combination with cutting the hole.

Well another problem I have is I cant seem to find a valve online that has that same male end as the PDF. I want to buy the counterflow wort chiller "shirron plate" from northerbrewer.com. I believe its called an NPT thread and the stuff online was all MPT.

MPT, NPT it makes no matter. The in and out on the chiller is a 1/2" male fitting, just get a 1/2" female screw-on barb or quick release and your set. Teflon tape is recommended.

# NPT - National Pipe Thread Taper
# FPT - female (internal) National Pipe Taper threads
# MPT - male (external) National Pipe Taper threads

The Shirron plate chiller has 1/2" NPT threaded male hookups for the wort, and male Garden Hose fittings for the chilling and waste water.
That is standard 1/2 pipe threads that are used for all general fittings in all your department and home stores.
The instructions on my page are how to install a weld less kit that Northern (and most other stores) sell.
They have a 1/2" ball valve on the outside of the kettle. They also have a 1/2" standard pipe thread.
To hook the chiller to the ball valve (unless you are plumbing in stainless steel) you will use a flexible high temperature tubing and an adapter on the ball valve and chiller to connect the two.

The only reason I listed Northern Brewer as a reference is because I do use their site and know my way around it quickly. Most of the other suppliers online offer the same equipment.
