It's Alive..

Post by Don » Tue Oct 19, 2010 7:43 pm

Way in the back of the refrig I found a Wyeast #3068 pack dated last November. I feed and decanter it 3 times (3 pints) over the last week and it look like it is doing fine.
I'll find out on Saturday when I pitch it.

Of course there are some yeast that die off over the long sleep... But only the weak ones! Now you've got some malt munching monsters.
You gonna buy one, or be one?
.....I'm gonna be one!

Actually the yeast that die can turn out to be a good nutrient source for the rest. You'll do great. :)

Never throw your old yeast (if it's been keep cool)
This 1 year old yeast pack is what I used to make my "Some kind of Wheat Stuff" the Big Turkey winner last month.
