White Labs 500 Trappist Ale yeast

Post by jefrey3 » Sun Mar 22, 2009 9:07 pm

I brewed Monk's Dubbel last Thursday. If any one needs some Trappist yeast, it should be ready this week.

Jack,
I'd like to get some from you. I'm brewing this week, might as well join the monastery and brew like a monk. I've collected some different sugars that I wanted to experiment with. You wouldn't have any extra pilsner malts available too would you?
You gonna buy one, or be one?

The yeast sample was quite tasty. Jack gave me about a half gallon starter. I didn't brew for several days after receiving the gift, but I stored the yeast in the fridge, and it settled out quite a bit. I poured off a nice glass, maybe more...because I just needed to make sure the sample didn't get infected...right?
Yes it was certainly good. Sure to better carbonated.

The blonde I made from the gift turned out quite tasty also. I took a hydro a couple of days ago. The gravity is a little higher than I anticipated, but still within guidelines finishing at 1.012 from a 1.059 OG 6% ABV

Who doesn't like a blonde with legs?

Nice beer Jack! Turoni's continues to be the only place in town I can ever rely on good consistent beer. If my taste buds were working through the mushroom pizza, it seemed to have just a nice soft banana coming through. Tasty and went down easy. What was the alcohol?
