Alternative fermenter.
I was thinking {oops, not good }about using a carboy upside down with a stopper and some rigged up valving of some sort as an alternative to racking 1st to 2nd fermenter.Sort of a frugal conical.Any ideas on valving,or stopper,or both?
You gonna stop whinin' 'bout that beer,or you gonna send it to me?

There has been a product known as the Fermentap on the market for some time that does exactly that. I don't have any personal experience with the device, but have heard users comment on yeast not dropping into the bottom completely due to the difference in the angle of the slope as compared to an actual conical.
